Foodland Promotions — the entity behind buying and campaign management for Foodland's independent SA supermarkets — ran its core ICT in a third-party data centre on ageing physical hardware that was out of warranty and due for replacement.
A like-for-like on-premises refresh would have required substantial capital outlay, and the existing model carried high, variable costs, limited scalability, and growing security and compliance risk. Foodland wanted a modern, flexible platform rather than another hardware cycle.

Tyto led an end-to-end migration of Foodland's server estate from the data centre into Microsoft Azure, delivering the environment under Tyto's cloud management.
The primary cutover was executed in a tightly-managed window, with staff kept informed and access restored via new cloud-hosted session hosts.
The migration was delivered and the environment is live and Tyto-managed today, with workloads, monitoring and backups running in the cloud and hardware-refresh capital avoided entirely.
The approved business case projected a significant reduction in annual running costs, with the project modelled to pay for itself within months. Beyond cost, Foodland gained elastic capacity, a modern security posture and a platform that removed the risk of failing, out-of-warranty hardware.
